Shivani chose her favorite jazz musicians from her
home state of Hawaii to help her create this album.
On piano is Jim Howard and Les Peetz, both top
notch players well known for their creativity and
empathetic accompaniment talents. On drums we
have Chuck James and Lew Maddox, who have
both been at the top of the jazz drummer list in
Hawaii for many years. On upright bass is Miles
Jackson, one of the most talented jazz bassists to
have ever lived and played in this island paradise.

Shivani hand picked the songs to highlight her
talents as well as those of the other musicians,
who really bring these songs to life. So even
though they were performed in the studio, it
almost seems like you are present at a jazz
club or concert. The musical interplay between
all the musicians and Shivani can be heard and
felt throughout the album.

Shivani Kumar releases Jazz vocal album
Where Do We Go From Here

What if Ella had the sweet, sensual voice of Norah Jones,
and the lush, warm recording quality that is available today?

Jazz collaboration fires on all cylinders

John Berger

“This is a beautifully crafted album by vocalist Shivani Kumar.
All but one of the selections come from “the Great American Songbook”,
or written more recently in that older style. Kumar makes a great first
impression and maintains it throughout. Her skills as a scat
singer (using her voice as another instrument rather than singing
lyrics) are highlights.”
Review by John Berger

“…Shivani has outdone herself. She is the most amazing female jazz
scat singer I have ever heard. Just extraordinary. Like a zooming zip
journey for the ears. Her crooner voice, is smooth like velvet mocha,
her lyric delivery is enchanting and real, so earthy. The production of
her CD is just flawless. Roshan Kumar has truly produced the
masterpiece of his life, thus far! Fantastic!”

"I want you to know how much I enjoyed [Shivani’s CD] and her
voice is spectacular. I was blown away by her versatility and the
great quality of emotion in her voice. The band and production
sounds great, too."
Bruce Kurnow - international recording artist/songwriter/

Jazz vocalist Shivani Kumar was known as “Denver’s Darling” when
she performed regularly in Denver’s top Jazz clubs, including the
Senate Lounge, the Robin’s Nest, and the Denver Playboy Club.
During this time her group also opened for many famous jazz artists
such as Bill Evans, Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Eddie Gomez and others.

Following that, she moved to L.A. and was a staff songwriter for
Motown while performing throughout California and the Caribbean,
and later in Japan and other parts of Asia.

She now lives in Hawaii and has just released a new CD “Where Do
We Go From Here”. Her singing on this recording is totally “world
class” in all respects, as is the playing of the jazz trio accompanying her.
It is recordings like this that are keeping Jazz alive and vibrant.
